This is a driving experience of a lifetime – drive a single seater Formula Ford racing car on the fast purpose-built Kirkistown Race Circuit in Co. Down.
You will take part in Race School Ireland’s Formula A motor racing course. The driving experience starts with a saloon car demonstration and instruction laps with a qualified racing instructor. This is then followed by a briefing covering all aspects of driving a single seater racing car including safety, cornering lines, gear changing, and track behaviour.
After that, it's your turn to drive! You start with a saloon car lapping session and marked by your own personal instructor. The marks awarded to you during the session will help us access your general motor racing level. Finally, you take your place in a single seater, race specification Formula Ford. You will receive instruction on controls, driving position etc. You then begin your lapping session of 7 Laps, following one of our instructors who will be driving another racing car (the pace car). The "pace car" far from slowing you down helps you lap faster and more smoothly.
For this ultimate driving experience, you need to be 17 or older and able to use a manual gearbox. We will provide you with a crash helmet, race overalls, and gloves. Flat trainers are recommended.
