This is a driving experience of a lifetime – drive a single seater Formula Ford racing car on the fast purpose-built Kirkistown Race Circuit in Co. Down.
You will take part in Race School Ireland’s Formula Plus motor racing course. The driving experience starts with a saloon car demonstration and instruction laps with a qualified racing instructor. This is then followed by a briefing covering all aspects of driving a single seater racing car.
After that, it's your turn to drive! You start with a saloon car lapping session and marked by your own personal instructor. The marks awarded to you during the session will help us access your general motor racing level. Then, you take your place in a single seater, race specification Formula Ford.
You then begin a lapping session of 7 Laps, following one of our instructors who will be driving another racing car (the pace car). This is then followed by another lapping session of 6 laps at increased speed, after which your instructor will discuss any points or problems. You will then enjoy a 5 lap session on your own with no pace car.
For this ultimate driving experience, you just need to be 17 or older and be able to use a manual gearbox. We will provide you with a crash helmet, race overalls and gloves. We recommend you bring a pair of flat trainers. Courses are run on a number of specified weekends throughout the year. Booking is essential and dates are subject to availability.
