Learn the basics of pottery with this this two day course that introduces you to all the basic techniques of pottery making - you will learn to coil, slab and throw pots, and to sculpt in clay. You will try various decorative techniques, including sgraffito, slip-painting, underglazing and glazing. Suitable for beginners and those with limited ceramics experience.
This class takes place on selected Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. All materials are supplied. Lunch is included each day. Accommodation not included. Prices quoted are person. Advance booking required. Sample itinerary includes-
Saturday: 10.00am -1.00pm Introduction & guided tour, clays, firings and glaze, coiling project, introduction to throwing | 1.00pm-2.30pm Lunch | 2.30pm - 5.30pm Prepare slabs for slab pot, throwing, glazing, pinch pebbles. Sunday: 10.00am-1.00pm Turning slab project, coloured clays, throwing | 1.00pm-2.30pm Lunch | 2.30pm-5.30pm Surface decoration for greenware, coil project, Slip painting.
