Ballyknocken House is located on the road between Ashford and Glenealy Village. Three miles from Ashford on the right or one mile from Glenealy on the left.
From Dublin City Centre (St Stephen's Green) to Ballyknocken House
NB: Follow signs for N11/M11 (Main Dublin - Wicklow - Wexford Road) Drive south onto Merrion Row and then onto Lower Baggot Street , Upper Baggot Street and Pembroke Road. Move to right hand lane and at the traffic lights at the end of Pembroke Road. Turn right, passing Jury's Hotel (Berkley Court Hotel is in the vicinity) and at the third set of lights on this road, just over the bridge of the River Dodder, turn right onto Angelsea Road.
Continue to the lights at the top of this road, ensuring you are in the far left hand lane (there will be a sign here for the N11). Turn left onto the N11 and continue for 26 miles, exiting the N11 into Ashford Village.
On your right you will see the Chester Beatty Pub- turn right almost immediately thereafter. It is a narrow uphill road - continue directly on the road for 3 miles approximately - the entrance to Ballyknocken House is on your right and there is a signpost at the gate.

To Ballyknocken House - from the south
Follow the N11 (main Wexford - Dublin Road) and exit where Rathnew / Rathdrum is signposted. Thereafter follow the sign for Rathdrum. Glenealy is just over two miles from this point. On entering Glenealy village, on your left is a church followed by the pub, Glenealy Lodge. Turn right opposite this pub and continue no this road for one mile. The entrance to Ballyknocken House is on your left and there is a signpost at the gate.

The house has been in Catherine’s family sine the 1940’s, and since 1968 has been open as a guesthouse. Then Catherine, and her Italian husband, Claudio, took over the guesthouse in 2001, then began a labour-of-love renovation project, which has seen the house restored to its former glory, and the cookery school open in what used to be the milking parlour!

Catherine Fulvio is a TV Chef, food writer and cookery tutor, and is the hands-on proprietor of Ballyknocken Cookery School and Ballyknocken House. Catherine is highly acclaimed for her no-fuss style of cookery using the freshest ingredients, and is a regular on TV screens both at home and abroad.
