The McCreevy's Lock cruise heads east of Sallins through lush green countryside, showing you the amazing beauty of the Kildare countryside. Learn some Grand Canal history along the way chatting with the skipper, while immersed in nature on Ireland's oldest man-made navigation.
Sallins is where trade on the Grand Canal first began when passenger and cargo barges started hauling their horse drawn loads between the small Kildare village and Dublin in 1780. Today Sallins is a bustling inland harbour village with 4 award winning restaurants & bars on the waterfront, and an array of boats, barges, houseboats and a brewery. This Barge Trip is for max 12 passengers. This experience is weather dependent. There is no minimum age but children must be supervised at all times. This experience lasts 1.5 hours.
Barge Trip is located in Sallins, Co. Kildare. Barge Trips operate from March to September at 5pm and 7pm with weekend availability. Advance booking on AllGifts.ie is required.
